I forgot to update everyone on my progress with the BBC iPlayer. In a nutshell it is a fundamentally broken piece of software and a tragic waste of the licence fee.

I forgot to update everyone on my progress with the BBC iPlayer. In a nutshell it is a fundamentally broken piece of software and a tragic waste of the licence fee.
In the words of Ari Gold,
Some things I don’t understnad about iPlayer.
Why doesn’t it work, I have all the right gear and it keeps telling me I need to install iPlayer before it will work. ehm? I just logged in through iPlayer. What d’ fuck!
Why can’t I get content while over-seas?
Why didn’t they make it so you had to have a TV licence first?
Why didn’t they just use iTunes’ FairPlay DRM? The TV licence serial number would replace the iTunes account. The content would be locked to a designated computer so we could watch over-seas and content would not have to time-out. Development costs would have been nil, Apple would have sold a mountian of Apple TV set-top-boxes, BBC could have taken a cut, then used the money to make a Linux client. AND most importantly it would all work!
You can find out exactly how to watch BBC iPlayer overseas at this link:

It gives you 3 different ways to do it. I have tried two of them and they both work very well. I am in Spain.
