As mentioned yesterday my hunt for a new processor came up trumps with Lowestonweb.com and it showed up as expected today. They keep you informed throughout the process even sending texts out to tell you to stay in for the delivery. Great service and great prices.
However the old flame Overclockers.co.uk, from which I bought my other components, can in no way match them at all. They have the stock, range and prices which very few stores do but their transparency and overall customer experience is apualing.
I ordered yesterday at the same time as the lowestonweb order yet it still hasn’t shown up. Added to that you recieve no confirmation or have any idea what is going on with the order. Their website is still stuck in the 90s while all their competitors have speeded ahead of them.
I hear they are making a ton of money right now and don’t feel the need to invest in the site or their aftersales support. Lets just see what happens to their customer base if they keep that up.

I gave up on overclockers years ago after a bad experience. Sorry to hear that nothing have changed! I’d never heard of lowestonweb, but i’ll have to check em out!
Ah the joys of Overclockers. I totally agree with the lack of service, but living where I do, I am fortunate enough to be able to nip up to their store in Stoke, and scream at the staff in person. Although I must admit, I do buy most of my hardware from them. I like to be able to take things back personally if they go tits up rather than faff with postage.
Wish I could do that today but they are about an hour away from me. I am RMAing as we speak.
Hi John,
thanks for letting us know that all went well with lowestonweb. Could you please tell me if the processor came in an anti-static bag?
I assume that no CPU cooler comes with this product since it is an OEM part.
Thanks,
Glyn
Pure OEM so no cooler. Standard OEM packaging you get with everyone else in a jiffy. I have had no problems with the CPU so do not worry about the lack on anti static.
Thanks - i read your 2 posts, If the processor was for a desktop system, then I think i would go for it, but this one is going to sit in a datacenter, so I think I would be wise to wait until i can get a retail pakage, which provides better protection from mishandling of the chip, and also a better warranty.
Thanks for your help though, i suppose that i just wanted to check that the processor didn’t come in anti-static bag.
Ok well just remember they ship hundreds of these things out everyday so they must have some clue what they are doing.
Tell us more about your “data” center?
And I quote: “A data center is a facility used to house mission critical computer systems and associated components. It generally includes environmental controls (air conditioning, fire suppression, etc.), redundant/backup power supplies, redundant internet connections and high security.” –wikipedia
You think a consumer CPU is gonna match up to that little bastard?
Or is your “datacenter” actually a Medion branded Windows box with a filthy copy of IIS installed…?
