Thanks - i read your 2 posts, If the processor was for a desktop system, then I think i would go for it, but this one is going to sit in a datacenter, so I think I would be wise to wait until i can get a retail pakage, which provides better protection from mishandling of the chip, and also a better warranty.
Thanks for your help though, i suppose that i just wanted to check that the processor didn’t come in anti-static bag.

Pure OEM so no cooler. Standard OEM packaging you get with everyone else in a jiffy. I have had no problems with the CPU so do not worry about the lack on anti static.

Hi John,

thanks for letting us know that all went well with lowestonweb. Could you please tell me if the processor came in an anti-static bag?
I assume that no CPU cooler comes with this product since it is an OEM part.

Ah the joys of Overclockers. I totally agree with the lack of service, but living where I do, I am fortunate enough to be able to nip up to their store in Stoke, and scream at the staff in person. Although I must admit, I do buy most of my hardware from them. I like to be able to take things back personally if they go tits up rather than faff with postage.

I gave up on overclockers years ago after a bad experience. Sorry to hear that nothing have changed! I’d never heard of lowestonweb, but i’ll have to check em out!
